Since there are still grounds for divorce that exist, New York is not a true "no-fault" state. However, plenty of couples are filing for divorce under the no-fault law. A no-fault divorce essentially means that you do not need to show proof that the marriage is ending based off of the behavior or actions of the other. The only thing that must be shown is that the marriage has been irretrievably broken for at least six months. Keep in mind that before the divorce is settled, issues such as custody, property division, and support must be arranged.

In view of the high financial and emotional cost of prolonged matrimonial proceedings, we make every effort to avoid litigation, while still striving to achieve the best resolution for our clients. We firmly believe that the trauma of divorce is minimized through settlement, allowing our clients and their families to move forward with their lives in the most constructive way.
Occasionally, resolve, determination and the ability to litigate the matter through the court system to completion are necessary to achieve a successful resolution. Any skilled divorce attorney at our firm is in the best position to advise you when litigation is necessary and to see it through.
When you reach out to us, we will arrange a time to sit down face-to-face and review the circumstances of your divorce.
