She is licensed to practice in New York State, Trial and Appellate Courts, and Federal Courts. She was admitted to the Bar for New York State in 1973, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Sixth Circuits in 1973, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in 1974.
Prior to establishing Goldweber Epstein LLP in 1995, Elyse S. Goldweber was the partner entrusted with running the Litigation Department at Olshan Frome Wolosky. She served as a clinical instructor at NYU School of Law from 1974 to 1987. From 1976 to 1978, she was an attorney for the SEC's Division of Enforcement. She served as Assistant Director of the Institution of Judicial Administration, Inc. from 1978 through the end of 1980. Before that, she worked at the New York State Moreland Act Commission on the Urban Development Corporation and Other State Financing Agencies from 1974 to 1975. She began her career as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division's Fair Housing Section, a position she held from 1972 to 1974.
Elyse currently is a member of several family law committees. As a member of the Women's Bar Association, she currently serves on the Family Law Committee. Moreover, she is an active member of the Family Law section of the New York State and American Bar Associations. As a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, she served on the Federal Courts Committee from 1981 to 1984 and the Matrimonial Committee from 1994 to 1997, 2006 to 2009, and 2015 - present.
A child advocate, Elyse is a First Department Certified Attorney for Child for children residing in Manhattan and the Bronx.
Elyse graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1969. She then attended Brooklyn Law School and graduated cum laude in 1972.
Elyse has been awarded the AV® rating by Martindale-Hubbell®, the nationally recognized legal directory, signifying the highest rating for legal ability and professional standards of conduct and ethics, throughout her professional career. Since 2011, she has also been certified as one of the Best Lawyers in America and has been listed in the annual Super Lawyers New York-Metro publications since 2008. She has appeared on various television and radio news shows throughout her career focusing on matrimonial law. Elyse has also been a panel member on matrimonial law programs run by various Bar Associations.
